I thought that the confession + absolution in my Lutheran tradition this Advent was particularly beautiful, so I wanted to share it. See if it strikes a chord with you…
[Moment of silence for reflection.]
God for whom I wait,
I confess my sin before you.
I fail in believing that your good news is for me.
I falter in my call to tend your creation.
I find my sense of self in material wealth.
I fear those different from myself.
I forget that I am your child
and I turn away from your love.
Forgive me, Blessed One,
and assure me again of your saving grace.
Amen.
[And to this, the presider gives the absolution (forgiveness)...]
God, in Christ Jesus, has looked with favor upon you!
Through the power of the Holy Spirit,
+ your sins have been forgiven.
You are a child of the Most High,
an inheritor of the eternal promise,
and a recipient of divine mercy.
God strengthens you anew to follow the way of peace.
Amen.
In Comfort + Joy,
Jonas
Thank you for this.
Jonas, this is touching.......Comfort & Joy to you and yours too.
