Sometimes, prayers come easily. But sometimes, they’re nowhere to be found. This is when it’s helpful to have some prayers and Scripture passages close at hand to give you the words you need.
If it’s short enough (like the one I’m going to offer you below), you might even be able to memorize it. Let it sink from the head to the heart and reverberate in the marrow of your bones as you recite it.
The blessing that never fails is Isaiah 43:1. It goes like this…
But now thus says the Lord,
God who created you,
God who formed you:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
Powerful, right? You’re not wriggling your way out of this blessing. You might not believe it on the first read, but if you push through and repeat it, this blessing will have its way with you.
God has called you, not just in general, but by name. You are his. You are not a mistake. Your life is on purpose. God has formed and crafted you. Even if you feel like you have no purpose, God has claimed a purpose for your life: to be God’s beloved.
In Joy,
Jonas+
My Jonas is back! Speaking to my heart.
“…even if you feel like you have no purpose…” I love that line you added. Because it reminds people, especially during the Christmas holiday when some folks might feel lost or down, that their life is not an accident. That they are loved and matter. Merry Christmas, Jonas.
