When Christianity reached the ancient Celts, they didn’t feel the need to abandon their pagan practices or deny the spiritual wisdom they inherited from their older traditions. They didn’t see any conflict between Christianity and holding the earth as sacred, recognizing the harmony of the spheres, and acknowledging the wisdom inherent in the human soul. Christ became their druid, and they saw their older pagan practices as their “Old Testament” that came before Christ, not a contradiction to Christ.
Yes, the Christmas trees in our homes are absolutely pre-Christian pagan relics. And that’s perfectly fine in my book. God blesses the solstice trees in our homes adorned with the lights of Christ.
