This is your annual reminder that Christmas is not just a day; it’s a season. It goes until Epiphany on January 6th (many in the UK keep their Christmas trees up until Candlemas on February 2nd - but purists like those also don’t put their trees up until Christmas Eve).
If you think you didn’t get Christmas right this year (I’m right there with ya), I have two things to say…
What does that even mean? (I'm asking myself this question, too.) What is ‘right’? If you’re like me, you’ve set the bar at an exceptionally high level. Especially if you’re a parent, this is the Christmas curse that befalls you. But it’s not our job to do Christmas perfectly. Though you are a parent, you are, first and foremost, a child of God. Have you been trying too hard to be the Christmas god of your life and looking right over all the gifts your life has been trying to give you? Let the real Maker be the incarnate God of Christmas. Allow yourself to rest and receive as much as you can.
You have plenty of time left to get at least some of the things ‘right.’ It’ll never be perfect, but Christmas is not over! According to the Brits, we have at least another month!
In Christmas Joy,
Jonas+
