I’ve seen the same tagline for a number of churches. It seems to be a trend:
‘Radical hospitality.’
To be honest, ‘radical hospitality’ scares the bejeezus out of me.
If I go to your church for the first time, let me be anonymous for a bit. Let me give you the green light before you devour me with your welcome.
Also, there are ways to be hospitable that aren’t based on being socially forward. Maybe ‘thoughtful’ or ‘discerning’ would be better ways to be hospitable rather than ‘radical.’
Just a thought for introverted curmudgeons like me who take time to warm up to folks:)
Tru dat - coming from a fellow introverted curmudgeon. Let me settle in first then say hello. ;)
This “radical hospitality” is akin to being cheugy…trying too hard. You’re spot on when you say most new visitors merely want to check things out first, to get a feel of a natural vibe. Let’s leave the radical part to Jesus…as we try to emulate Him outside of the church, not necessarily inside. Thanks!
