To-do lists make really bad gods.
So many of us start our day with a sense of inadequacy. We think we need to do x, y, and z before we can gain our adequacy.
But even if you were to check off each item on your to-do list (impossible), the subsequent feeling of adequacy would last... maybe... if you’re fortunate... half of a day.
Do what you do. It’s nice to get things done. Life would cease to be life if we didn’t do anything. It’s a gift to have work and do things.
But we get so frantic about it.
Productivity is better held as a walk through the woods; not like you’re running for your life.
You can never justify your existence by getting things done. Productivity is a sacrificial god with an endless appetite.
Make your adequacy your starting point. You have been made fully adequate in your mother’s womb. Full stop. Acknowledge this first thing.
Then, enjoy your walk as a response to this.
As Ever,
Jonas
Thank you for the reminder! I'm stepping outside to take a deep inhale. :)
Ah yes, all so very true, Jonas! ... and stated just right!
