Between seminary reading assignments, I’ve been reading this fantastic book called The Heroine's Journey: Woman's Quest for Wholeness by Maureen Murdock. I’m fascinated by the divine feminine. And being the dad of a girl, I have a vested interest in the holistic thriving of women in our world.
I have a lot of thoughts about this book, but for now, I’ll just say this…
A lot of our issues - and this goes for both men and women - come from having strayed too far from the feminine.
I’d take it even further to say that we’ve violently overturned a lot of our more sacred feminine notions. Our modern forms of feminism still hold a masculine ideal.
Without the feminine, the masculine is lost. I pray for redemption and restoration. I pray for wholeness in each as complimentary forces of self-giving love - the love of Christ.
(And I do think the Christian faith can play a big role in this restoration.)
As Ever,
Jonas
