God’s strength shows up in the diversity of the created world. Things are created and evolve as different aspects of a whole.
Difference is scary. If everyone is homogeneously the same, life is more predictable. When difference shows up, who knows what might happen?
I think about this in the political realm. As much as I can’t relate to my neighbor’s partisan/ideological beliefs, thank God we’re not all like… me. Thank God we’re all different - sometimes vastly so. It’s messy. People get hurt. But God works in and through that friction in miraculous ways that we can often only see in hindsight.
All of this being said…
All of creation serves as the one body of Christ.
It’s a joy that we’re not all fingers.
But all of us have fleshy hearts in our chests
that beat the same rhythm of God.
And in this shared heartbeat,
we are one
as we are
with all of creation.
As Ever,
Jonas
