From beginning to end…

Christmas is the season of Jesus, Emmanuel (aka ‘God with us’). It really is the overarching structure of the Bible from Old Testament to New.

I know the human egoic mind likes to focus on judgment and law. And those elements are in the Bible, no doubt. The God we find in Scripture does not like it when His shalom is broken and love goes untrusted.

But in all of it, the incarnational love of God never ceases. God is with us even while we sin and stray from our humanity.

Emmanuel… God with us…

It’s how the story starts with God who breathes life into our nostrils and walk with us in the cool of the garden in Genesis. It’s how it ends with Jesus befriending us in our lowest valleys of life. And it’s how the story continues right now with the Holy Spirit.

God with us. This is the throughline.
