It is already granted
Repentance is a shocking word, especially as a prerequisite to divine forgiveness. But the gospel of grace announces that forgiveness precedes repentance.
The sinner (aka everyone) is pardoned before he pleads for mercy. It is already granted and needs only to be received. Some would even say that repentance is a result of the acceptance of divine forgiveness. The thing that gives us the courage to repent and be liberated is the conscious realization of the pardon.
This is a gospel of total amnesty and gratuitous liberation. And it’s totally absurd to the scorekeeping human ego.
Grace & Godspeed,
Jonas
