Lent is upon us
I know! It seems like just yesterday that it was Advent. We’ve zoomed through Christmas and Epiphany and now it’s Ash Wednesday. Amazing how fast these seasons go.
I don’t think I’m going to give up anything for Lent this year. That whole practice has always seemed kinda petty to me.
Besides, I don’t believe that God calls us to suffer. This year for Lent, I’m going to try to be more attuned to the suffering that’s already going on all around (and inside of) me. I don’t even want to focus on doing anything to ‘fix’ it. I just want to be compassionately connected to the suffering in my world as deeply as possible. To look it in the eye. Hopefully, I’ll remember that God is working in and through the muck and the mess of it all.
Anyhow… Another thing that Lent means is that my new podcast is starting on Sunday! This will be available to paid subscribers only so if you want to hear me muddle my way through the Revised Common Lectionary every week and give my beginner-level seminarian’s perspective, you can subscribe below if you haven’t already…
Your support goes directly to my living expenses as a full-time midlife seminarian. That being said, if you’re financially in a rough spot and would like either a discount or a full-ride hookup, email jonas@jonasellison and let me know.
Grace & Godspeed,
Jonas
