[Nellie McClung] What to do?
Today, I just want to share with you a quote that I’ve been meditating on for the last few days since I first read it.
It’s a quote from the late Canadian suffragette Nellie McClung (who I’ve never heard of before, but turns out, was a pretty amazing woman). At the core of her words, she addresses what it is that we humans can do in the divine scheme of things. Is it on us to save the world from ruin? Or do we just sit back and enjoy the ride?
This author demonstrated a third way to look at it. And third-way thinking is just the best. Enjoy…
“Let us do our little bit with cheerfulness and not take the responsibility that belongs to God. None of us can turn the earth around; all we can ever hope to do is to hit it a few whacks on the right side.”
-Canadian suffragette Nellie McClung
