A theology of the cross informs us that our suffering doesn’t come because of our ungodliness.
Our suffering comes by overreaching outside the bounds of our creatureliness. We suffer when we try to become gods.
We suffer when we become too good for our creaturely blessedness - our gift of being created beings held by an unknowable albeit loving creator.
This isn’t good enough for us.
We’d rather take matters
into our own hands
shrug God off
and make our own worlds
with the ego at the helm.
But the ego can never replace God.
That notion is merely a delusion
a juicy and tantalizing one, indeed.
Faith is found in our creatureliness
when we trust that being the created
is home.
Grace & Godspeed,
Jonas
Theology expressed in a poem! Very good!
