In the story of the prodigal son, it’s obvious that God is symbolized as the father (some say that instead of The Prodigal Son, it should rather be titled The Unconditionally Loving Father).
But less obvious is what character is symbolized as Christ.

In the story, the fattened calf was sacrificed so that the family could come together in merriment to celebrate and connect with a spirit of meaning, joy, and love.
Hmm… Kind of an interesting twist on the story to ponder, I’d say.
