The scandal of faith

If faith were something
that could be manipulated,
it would not be faith.

Faith is not a recipe
or a blueprint
or a methodology.

These are ways we grasp at certainty
and faith, by definition
is anything but certain.

Faith can only be
a gift from God -
an epiphany
fully received.

This is the scandal
of our human condition…

That we have absolute
dependence
on
Him.

The only option we have
in the area of faith
is to trust entirely
in what we do not understand
and cannot control.

What a wild ride.
