“The opposite of sin can only be faith, and never virtue.”
H. A. Williams
This one speaks for itself, so I’ll just leave it right here for you to ponder.
If you think that faith = stringent good behavior, well, this throws a monkey wrench in those gears. Good behavior (which is a pretty subjective concept anyway) is not the root of faith, it’s the fruit.
In the Greek of the New Testament, faith (pistis) means trust. So, it turns out, the root of faith isn’t just you and your deeds. It’s trust in the relationship between you and God. Trust that God is God and will never leave nor forsake you even when it sure seems like He has.
This brings a whole new light to faith, doesn’t it? Though our faith/trust will always falter, God’s remains forever steadfast. Even amid our fluctuating good and bad behaviors.

We need a billboard with that phrase on it. Good behavior is truly the fruit of faith in Jesus, not "the" faith.
I respectfully see sin as choosing to do harm to self or others, so the opposite of sin would be Ahimsa, ie., do no harm.
