My neighbor has a big Trump flag hanging from his front porch. He’s a bit rough around the edges. I’m sure he’d admit that. But he seems like a good enough guy.
I’m glad there are people like him.
And I’m glad there are people like me.
I’m glad everyone isn’t like him.
And I’m (especially) glad everyone isn’t like me.
I’m grateful to have diversity in this human situation. I’m also grateful that not everybody from the “other side” fits into the cardboard cutout of identity/idology that the polarizing forces in the world want us to believe they do.
Humans are much more nuanced than that.
Big prayers for a peaceful, speedy, and just 2020 election.
As Ever,
Jonas
P.S. I wanted to share a WONDERFUL blurb with you that my dear friend and mentor David Zahl wrote the other day…
I agree with your observations, Jonas. I wish we could all find a way to stop demonizing those who hold different views, look for all that we share (love of family, good coffee, passions, etc) and practice more kindness. Crazy talk, I know.
