When you don't need a universalist
I learned today that Isaiah 43 is the only place in the entire Bible where God directly says, “I love you.” Which got me thinking…
When you’re in your most vulnerable place. And you go to your beloved to ask - straight up - if they love you, the last thing you want is a universalist. The last thing you want to hear is, “Wellllll, yeah, but I love everybody.”
No…
What we want to hear is, “I love you.”
This is what we hear from the preached God. Even though God’s love may be universal, in our time of need, it doesn’t matter. We want it personal. And in Isaiah, we get it.
You are loved.
Just you.
Grace + Godspeed,
Jonas
