I’ve gotten the question a few times lately, so I wanted to address it here and send it out to y’all in case you’re wondering…
Jonas… Why do you link to Medium in your posts when we can just read the damn things in our inbox?
To this, I’d say… Fantastic question.
Here’s why I do this…
The public face of my blog has long lived on Medium.com. But because you’re an email subscriber of mine, I send everything I write to your handy dandy email inbox. It’s a perk of being an email subscriber.
Reading my stuff in your inbox is great. It totally works for most people.
But Medium.com provides a pretty groovy reading experience if you’d like to take advantage. Here are a few ways those sneaky tech geeks do this…
For one, you can create a profile and then you can highlight, bookmark, and make lists of posts that you dig. Then you can go back and easily access them later.
They also have a feature where you can have all posts read to you (at the top of every post, you’ll see a little sideways triangle with ‘listen’ beside it). It’s done digitally with magical technology, so there are glitches. But if you’re more of a listener of content rather than a reader, Medium has ya covered…
So… That’s it for now. Just wanted to put this out there for what it’s worth. Until next time, happy reading (and listening if, you know, that’s your thing). Lemme know if ya have any questions.
I sometimes want to quote you or refresh my memory on something you've said. It's much easier to find a saved article on medium than digging through my emails, and much, much easier to cite you with a link to the original article there.
I like it. :)
