God isn't in the self-improvement business
Self-improvement is a human thing - we don’t need God to do this.
God is in the death and resurrection business.
Self-improvement is often harmless - good, even. But it seems to me that when I try to improve myself, things go well for a while but I eventually get burned out, resentful, conceited, etc. which defeats the purpose. I also later realize that I’ve missed the mark in what I should be prioritizing. It’s never enough in the end.
God isn’t into making you BETTER.
God is into making you NEW.
The bugger is, God does this through the moments and seasons when you reach the end of yourself. This is where God’s best work is done.
Again and again.
Amen.
Grace & Godspeed,
Jonas
