Self-improvement is a human thing - we don’t need God to do this. God is in the death and resurrection business. Self-improvement is often harmless - good, even. But it seems to me that when I try to improve myself, things go well for a while but I eventually get burned out, resentful, conceited, etc. which defeats the purpose. I also later realize that I’ve missed the mark in what I should be prioritizing. It’s never enough in the end.
