The unexpected delights I have found in these difficult times are the unexpected generosity from people, cooking and baking, teaching others, being able to help others, God’s love.

The number of people who help. In times of trouble watch for the helpers. Nurses, feeding the masses, sharing what they have , sing alongs standing in the driveway with the neighbors, dinner out option becomes a picnic, teacher’s who drive over with a white board and explain something through the door. I’m humbled beyond belief. I see the fingerprints of God

My classmates from my graduating class of 1969 at Minden High School have been active on messenger checking on people, sharing feelings and thoughts, and humor! It truly has blessed me, especially since I live alone.

Seeing so many more people taking walks, slowing down, doing gardening. Harkens back to a slower-paced time of the past!

The beauty that is the physical world...we are still covered with snow, but the sight of the sunlight hitting it and the blue sky as a backdrop, I find it easier to find gratitude when I look out my window.

A new word has been coined: "care-mongering" - which means spreading CARE for each other instead of fear. Whole communities are sharing offers of help, inspirational quotes, requests for help, ideas for kids, ways to keep the communities strong and together. Check out CAREMONGERING PENDER ISLAND, BC or CAREMONGERING ORILLIA, ONT to see and share.

Having the time to sit and read all the GOOD things that people are doing throughout the world to help their friends and neighbors while still social distancing.

My church (Central.live) stepped up and opened pop-up food banks at the same time the regular food banks were shutting down. They have online church services on Saturdays and Sundays, and also uplifting songs and prayer during the week. Even though I can't be there with them, it's so nice to still feel connected.

Making financial donations to organizations that are in dire need right now-organizations that serve the homeless, poor and mentally challenged.

Finally, the unwavering commitment from health care providers. Blessings being sent to all of them throughout the day.

The outpouring of support, care, and encouragement from friends and family during this time. In these less-busy times, while quarantined, it seems that we have time to check on each other, to communicate our love and encouragement for each other, and to foster friendships that might have been casual in the past, but can become more significant now.

Seeing young ladies making such great strides in Christian ministry. I actually think they are running circles around the guys. However, I do appreciate your appearance in the early hours of my day.

My unexpected delight these last couple months has been a close connection I've found that has, surpassing all my expectations, developed into a relationship that's been an opportunity to give and receive love and support. After a year and a half of knowing this person, this all came into focus just in time to balance the isolation that results from the entire public sphere being closed. Sometimes it feels like people enter our lives exactly when they're needed.
