Our spirituality goes haywire when it starts with self, not God. When personal responsibility replaces personal response to God. Or when we talk about gaining virtue in the same way that we might talk about chiseling our biceps or perfecting our tennis serve.
Jonas, you've expressed perfectly the exact reason that I've never believed in self-help/ 'how-to' courses or books. It has to be done from within us, not from outside ourselves... a natural flowing through us of that which is beyond our finite egoic self.
