One question that pastors and seminarians face time and time again is people asking us to explain our ‘call’ to ministry. This has always struck me as a little… confounding. Some people riff about how God has basically told them from on high that they are supposed to do this ministry thing. And I’ve often wondered...
My parents did not want me to be a teacher or a musician... and I ended up being both! I have always said that 'I simply could not not be a teacher or a musician' -- they are built into the very fiber of my being. What you have expressed sounds like that is exactly true for you and your calling into the ministry.
May you continue to be blessed in what you are doing... just as you are blessing others by what you are doing!
I was called to teaching in my late 40’s. It made no sense, because as a graduate TA in my PhD program I dislike teaching immensely (but enjoyed 1-on-1 tutoring of undergrads).
My needs changed as I matured and gained experiences in my profession. I realized that training others in workshop settings, a few times per year, was something I was meant to do full-time.
While my circuitous path to a full-time faculty position was 5-years in the making, I just “knew” God was calling me.
Well-said, Jonas!

I'm so grateful that you are.
